POSCO ENERGY has provided a stable supply of power to the metropolitan region for about 50 years through its Incheon LNG Combined
Cycle Plant. The Incheon generation facility is capable of supplying 3,412MW of electricity, almost 10% of the metropolitan region’s
entire generating capacity. We are also operating Off-Gas Combined Cycle Power Plants in Gwangyang and Pohang with the 300MW-grade
capacity, which are fueled by off-gas generated from the steel-making process.
In addition We launched a subsidiary company, POSPOWER, as a step to prepare ourselves for advancing into the coal-fired thermal power
business, and a 2,100MW-capacity thermal power plant is scheduled to be completed in Samcheok by 2024.
The Samcheok Thermal Power Plant will feature cutting-edge environmental management systems and internal standards that exceed
Ministry of Environment requirements to become Korea’s industry-leading eco-friendly power generation plant.
POSCO ENERGY is also heavily engaged in fuel cell, an eco-friendly and high-efficiency decentralized power source that does not require
a transmission network, and has achieved 100% product localization by securing core fundamental technologies. Fuel cell power plants
are currently in operation in over 20 locations throughout the country, including a world leading-capacity 60MW-grade fuel cell power
plant in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do.
POSCO ENERGY is further expanding its green energy portfolio with photovoltaic and wind power projects in Shinan-gun, Jollanam-do.
A 14.5MW photovoltaic power complex and a 62.7MW on-shore wind power complex are carrently in operation. An additional 300MW
off-shore wind power complex is currently under plans for development, as part of POSCO ENERGY’s active implementation of the Korean
government’s "Renewable Energy 3020" policy.
POSCO ENERGY also constructed Korea’s first refuse-derived fuel power generation facility with a 25MW-grade plant in Busan,
and is operating a district heating facility that uses recovered sewage heat.
In addition to its operations in Korea, POSCO ENERGY is actively engaged in power generation projects around the world. The company
constructed and currently operates a 200MW off-gas power generation plant in Indonesia, and became the first private-industry
power generation company to construct and operate a 1,200MW-grade coal-fired thermal power plant in Vietnam.
Building on our core foundations in power generation, POSCO ENERGY aims to develop into a "global eco-friendly energy company
focused on gas&power" by further expanding into gas power businesses such as initiating direct importation of LNG while developing the key
smart solutions needed to respond to future changes in the power generation industry.
We will remain dedicated to building a brighter world fueled by cleaner energy by pushing our boundaries through various energy projects.
Your continued support and interest will serve as the driving force that pushes us forward.
